Sarah Coakley is Norris-Hulse Professor of Divinity in the University of Cambridge. In 2013 Sarah Coakley released the first volume in her much anticipated four volume systematic theology, God, Sexuality and Gender. This unique and wonderfully ambitious project is grounded in an extensive grasp of Scripture, the Church Fathers, Philosophy and Feminist Criticism refined through the Crucible of Prayer. This lecture will preview insights from the second volume of this exciting work, titled The New Asceticism, due to be released in 2014. Sarah provides us with resources for a new kind of conversation for the contemporary church debates on sexuality.
